Volunteers at Rock Hall Marine Restoration and Heritage Center prepped wood for the construction of the Harry White Bateau build and raffle at the Open House on May 6, 2017. The bow post, exterior stem, port and starboard boards, ribs and stern were all cut at our facility.
Harry White is a Rock Hall boat builder who has constructed many wood and fiberglass Bateaus and workboats for commercial and pleasure use. Harry believes that the last Bateau he built was over forty years ago. Harry was on hand to start the construction, layout and set.
This Harry White Bateau is a fundraiser for Rock Hall Marine Restoration and Heritage Center with raffle tickets for sale at $20.
The Bateau is 20 feet in length and constructed out of yellow pine with stainless steel fasteners. It will be strip planked from the sideboards up. Construction features include a 2" concave on her bottom so that she will sit in the water properly, a 2" tuck in her stern making her safe for towing and capable of carrying and being operated by an outboard.
If our doors are open, please stop in to watch our progress and construction.
Tickets may be purchased at our facility at Historic Rock Hall Clam House, calling 410-739-2093 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
